Webupd8 - oracle install

Postby Flebber » Wed Oct 17, 2012 5:47 am

Just wondering to install oracle jdk is there a preferred method.

I was going to use the webupd8 repo as described http://www.webupd8.org/2012/06/how-to-i ... n.html?m=1

Which is basically these commands.
Code: Select all
su -
echo "deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/webupd8team/java/ubuntu precise main" > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/webupd8team-java.list
echo "deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/webupd8team/java/ubuntu precise main" >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/webupd8team-java.list
apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys EEA14886
apt-get update
apt-get install oracle-java7-installer
exit

There is not really a preffered method. If you are using Raul (3.7) make sure packages are binary compatible with Debian Squeeze and if you are using Gloria (4.0) packages should be compatible with Debian Wheezy.

I am using 4.0 . Thanks for the advice, it's just a script so I think it should be okay with wheezy.
