parsix 5 - lombardo installed on a dell e5500

Postby M.D » Sun Sep 22, 2013 7:50 am

Hi,
after a long and safe operation with parsix 4 I tryed to upgrade my labtop to new version but it's not work! so I decide to install a fresh one.
I have a problem in boot operation somehow the system is not turn to graphic mode and a blank dark screen apear and no tty available, after a warm reboot I have seen mdadm and a TuxOnIce Error but system boot upto graphic mode and I can use the OS like now that I'm posting this via parsix 5 :)

my actions: I remove mdadm using
Code: Select all
apt-get purge mdadm

but still I can see the error in booting sequence that say:
Code: Select all
mdadm: No arrays found in config file or automarically
TuxOnIce: Missing or invalid storage location (resume= parameter), Please correct and return lilo (or equavalant) before hiberneting .
kvm: desabled by bios

Did you create a swap space when you were installing the OS?

No, Is this mandatory?

I use this commands for swap:
Code: Select all
# echo TuxOnIce > /suspend_file
# dd if=/dev/zero bs=1M count=1000 >> /suspend_file
# echo /suspend_file > /sys/power/tuxonice/file/target
# cat /sys/power/tuxonice/resume

and then I add "resume=file:/dev/sda6:0x30fe740" to boot options in /boot/grub/grub.cfg file and it look like this now:
Code: Select all
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="init=/bin/systemd ramdisk_size=100000 apm=power-off nomce quiet  resume=file:/dev/sda6:0x30fe740

of course I did an update-grub after all,

the result in boot shows noun error for TuxOnIce :) and mdadm error still remain.

but still I face the black screen randomly after I see parsix text logo!
Why this could be randomly happen? How can I look after this problem? Should I use a big swap file or swap partion to solve the black screen problem?

:)
:arrow: I find a solution in http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1744809

I add these 2 line to grub:
Code: Select all
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_backlight=vendor"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="acpi_osi=Linux"

of course update-grub needed.
and now I do not face the black or blank screen again, also I can see all services run at boot sequence
:D
