NTP System Time

Hello. Minor issue here. According to my system time it's 5 hours later then the actual time. In other words, according to Parsix it's 6:30pm, but in fact, it's actually 1:30pm (Dallas, Texas US - Central Time Zone). So, I've been "piddling" (always a dangerous proposition).

ntpq -p shows :

The "*" indicates my system time is synching with server 198.60-22-240 (wherever and whatever that is).

When I attempt to adjust the time in the Gnome panel (upper right corner) I'm reported to be in Kiev, which makes no sense; but, I changed my location to America/Chicago, but the time stays the same. I can NOT adjust manually the time.

Agreed, this is minor - like who cares when everything else is fine? But, I've become more of linux perfectionist and if you going to display the time on your desktop, it should be the correct time. I also run Debian and sidux - both display correct time/date and synch to a correct server (local) via ntp.

Any ideas of how to correct? Thanks (BTW..Parsix is great).

check out the following way:

go to System-> Administration -> Time and Date
set your clock, and then set "configuration" to "Manual" mode.

Sure enough. That fixed it. Guess I'm not used to Gnome. Using KDE for too long. That's.
