How do you add a printer?

Postby IntelEMT64 » Tue Nov 20, 2012 10:09 pm

Hello:

With Parsix 4.0 succesfully installed and updated, how do I now add my printer.

I tried adding the printer with System Settings, the printer, a HP 3200 did show up in the dialog box, however when I highlighted it and clicked Add, it responded unsuccesfull.

After this, I checked and found that CUPS is installed as well as the HPLIP interface to CUPS.

I added alacarte (the Gnome menu editor) to see if maybe the icon for CUPS was not checked, however I could not find a CUPS icon.

How can I run CUPS to add my printer, would adding the printer possibly allow Gnome System Settings to accept it?

Thank You

You can always point your web browser to http://localhost:631 to add your printer via CUPS interface.
