Accasional POST failure

Postby yingwuzhao » Thu Oct 23, 2008 9:57 pm

Maybe it's not the best place to ask this question, but in case someone has saw this before.

My computer has the following weird POST failure problem:
It happens only in the morning, relatively cold after the computer is off for a whole night. Then I try to do cold boot, I will have the POST failure, and what happens is:

1, fans keep running,
2, no hard drive light.
3, the monitor is off state, no signal and power light is blinking as if it's off
4. then the fan keep running with big noise, and nothing happens.
5, After I push the power button for a few second to turn it off and turn it on again, everything works perfectly again. Once turned on, it works perfect. And this cold boot problem doesn't happen in the middle of the day, only on the cold morning.

Did anybody seen this before?
Any information?

If your system's fan get stiff, try WD-40.
Sorry if this is not relevant enough.
