"Sounds" tab greyed out (Parsix 2.0 Boss)

Postby eco2geek » Sun Jan 11, 2009 11:15 pm

The output of "lspci" says my sound hardware is:

00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 02)

At the end of "alsaconf," it gives the error message:

Loading driver...
Setting default volumes...
amixer: Mixer attach default error: No such file or directory

When I go to System > Preferences > Sound, the "Sounds" tab is completely grayed out. Sometimes I get system sounds; sometimes I don't.

Sound from Flash video (in a web browser) works fine, as do MP4s.

<edit> After googling this, it's looking like it may not have anything to do with Parsix at all, and be of an issue with this HP laptop's chipset.

Its a known problem. I'm working for an updated parsix-sounds package to solve the problem. Thanks.
