(solved) upgrade failed

Postby guiman » Sun Jun 06, 2010 6:58 pm

Hello! I'm trying to upgrade my 3.0 Parsix to the 3.5 using the installation dvd, but process fails with this message: "no default user with id 1000".
No change with text and failsafe modes. Does anyone else have the same problem?
Thanks!

uh, Create a new user, modify /etc/group and /etc/passwd and change its id to 1000:

/etc/passwd:
user:x:1000:1000:Full Name:/home/user:/bin/bash

/etc/group:
user:x:1000:user

This shuold fix the upgrade process....

This is really weird. Try classic dist-upgrade. Do you have any other computers?

Trying the upgrade on an a desktop pc, I had no problem. Maybe my notebook is messed up (dist-upgrade failed too, finding only 2 packages to upgrade). Many thanks for your help. :)
