Parsix 3.6 USB installation

Postby jpreza » Wed Aug 04, 2010 7:49 am

Dear all
This is the second time I'm having this problem with USB installation. I installed Parsix 3.6 into an 8GB flash disk. Every thig went well, except it doesn't boot non of Parsix or my preveously installed XP. I cannot reinstall my XP becuse I have a very expensive software registration on it. Nothing works with reinstalling GRUB2 again, or upgrading it, or any thig I could find on Internet. When I supposedly boot my computer using the flash disk, it says: Missing operating system, and a bunch of other things about PXE-E61 media test failure, check cable and so on...
By the way, Ubuntu had no problem with this, so there is no missing setting like boot from USB or so. During two attempts, I tested two ways of booting from mbr, and from root, but non worked.
Plase save me, and let me know how to I recover my XP. I don't care about Parsix at the time.
Thx so much

Please explain you have installed Parsix on a flash drive yes, Is xp on the same drive or on your HD. if Xp is on your hardrive you just need to pop in a install disk, not the restore disk, or upgrade disk, and restore mbr. you can also make a Xp startup disk it not hard. I might still have 1 somewhere
this is a link to grub2
