Triple booting on a mac

Postby Jon » Sun Nov 08, 2009 2:00 am

Hi, first time user here with some noobish questions.

First off, I want to eventually triple boot on my Macbook Pro with OSX 10.6.1 (obviously,) Windows 7, and Parsix.

Why Parsix? Well, I looked at alot of Linux distros and I decided this would be the coolest to have. I might look into learning other languages, too. But it looks functional, has a firewall standard, and I still learn a little about Linux.

So, the problems start with installing Parsix to a certain partition.

I have created three partitions - apple HFS, and two NTFS-3G.
Obviously I will have to make one of those NTFS-3Gs a ext3 filesystem. I believe GParted wil help me with that....

So, now (hypothetically) I have three partitions like so:
dev/disk0
0: GUID partition scheme
1: EFI (I downloaded and installed rEFIt, works like a charm.)
2: Apple HFS (Mac side) about 200G
3: ext3 (Parsix) about 40G
4: NTFS (Windows) about 70G

How would I go about putting it on disk0s3?

And, even after installing it, are there drivers that will recognize my mac trackpad? (I booted it from CD, and it doesn't there.)

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, after searching around, I have found the answer for the partition problem. Seems I need to also make a swap, etc.

However, I still can't use the trackpad. Is there any solution for this? Could I download a driver for it?
